                Hello and welcome to the inaugural post of The Bullshit Book Club.

                I’ve been toying with the uninspired idea of running a blog based book club for some time. While discussing this idea with a friend a new brain child was formed, a book club with the warped agenda of reviewing only shockingly bad books. In this age of 50 Shades of Grey, it’s really too simple; there are so many stinkers to choose from. The only challenge would be deciding where to start!

                It was with great glee that I discovered a book still in the publishing process, a book all but guaranteed to be one of the worst abominations of the English Language in recent memory, Almost Meri’ed by “Samuel Jacob Cooper.” While this selection was an easy choice, the review certainly poses its’ challenges. For starters, the book comes with a mountain of back story necessary to even make heads or tails of what is happening and who exactly is writing it.

                For starters, Samuel Jacob Cooper, most likely, does not exist. In the early Spring of 2015, Meri Brown, star of a low budget TLC show that centers around a polygamous man, his four wives and their offspring, met, and subsequently began an affair with an individual claiming to be Samuel Jacob Cooper. Little did she know, Samuel did not exist and was, in fact, an Oklahoma woman named Jackie Overton, with a lengthy history of conning others into believing in her Samuel creation.

                Meri was left to endure the shame when this fact become public knowledge and unknown wrath from her polygamous family in private. Now, you’d think that the sham would be up for Jackie Overton/Samuel Cooper when all the facts came to light- but this was not the case. “Samuel” continued to blog every day, steadfastly maintaining that he is who he claimed, despite the overwhelming lack of supporting evidence.

“Samuel” later announced he was writing an e-book, to be released at an unknown date, and has released several early pages publically.

                To review the work of an author whose identity is questionable, and the story of a main character/hero who is not at all what they claim, yet whose activities have some basis in fact, is sure to be a headache. However, I accept this challenge and I hope to save others from the headache of reading such trifle. For the sake of clarity, the author will simply be referred to as “the author” and the central protagonist as “The Zero” since it seems illogical to consider him as the hero of the work.
